Welcome to Life is Just a Blog (the “Site”). By accessing or using this Site, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. General Use of the Site

This Site provides information about the works of author Douglas Owen, including books, events, seminars, workshops, blog posts, and newsletters. Book purchases are directed to third-party publishers or distributors. Workshop and seminar bookings are managed through this Site but are billed separately.

Visitors are not required to create accounts, and commenting is disabled beyond the contact form and newsletter signup.

2. Intellectual Property Rights

All written content, books, images, graphics, logos, and media on this Site are the exclusive intellectual property of Douglas Owen unless otherwise stated.

  • You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or exploit content without prior written permission.

  • Limited use is permitted under Fair Use but must not exceed 5% of the content and must include proper attribution.

3. Seminars and Workshops

Workshops and seminars are subject to the following terms:

  • Booking: Events must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance.
  • Payment: Each seminar or workshop costs $125 per event. Payment is due at the time of the event unless a net-30 arrangement is approved.
  • Late Fees: Late payments are subject to a $25 fee per 30-day delay.
  • Cancellations:
  • A $25 cancellation fee applies once a booking is confirmed.
  • Refunds are only provided if cancellation is made at least 3 weeks before the event.

4. Contact Form and Anti-Spam Policy

The contact form is for legitimate communication only. Before submitting, you must ensure your request is genuine and relevant.

  • Unsolicited offers or promotional services are not accepted.
  • Any such submissions are considered spam, violate these Terms, and may be reported.
  • IP addresses are recorded for all submissions. Repeated abuse may result in reporting to internet service providers or legal authorities under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), the CAN-SPAM Act (U.S.), and other applicable laws.

5. Privacy

Names and emails collected via the contact forms and newsletter signup are used solely for communication and are never sold or shared with third parties. Please see the Privacy Policy for full details.

6. Third-Party Links

This Site may direct you to third-party websites (e.g., publishers or payment processors). These links are provided for convenience only. Douglas Owen has no control over, and is not responsible for, the content, practices, or policies of third-party websites.

7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

  • The Site and its content are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind.

  • Access may be interrupted, delayed, or discontinued at any time without liability.

  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, Douglas Owen shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the Site.

The Site and all associated data are hosted on a secure server. Access is strictly limited to the author and trusted contractors.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed under the laws of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Ontario.
